I followed the races on TV World Cup in Athletics in Berlin, which ends today with "zero tituli" for Italy. I believe that this is the main reason for the current crisis. Not the only one, though. Other aspects also come into play, eg. the fact that in Italy is all about football (including money) and they remember certain sports (so-called minor sports) only for the Olympics, when they are useful to flesh out the small medals finished the game, who cares for running, boxing, gymnastics, shooting of the arc, the greek-roman fight and so on. Now, mind you, the athlete is a minor sport, anything! In fact, the athletic sport is a basic, preliminary and preparatory to the discipline the boy who may later choose to practice, because more acceptable or appropriate to its characteristics.
